Perth-based Automotive Holdings Group will build its 100th dealership after being granted a franchise to establish a new Mazda car yard in Brisbane.

Managing director Bronte Howson said the Mazda dealership would be in close proximity to AHG’s existing Holden, HSV, Hyundai and Suzuki dealerships in the Browns Plains area.

“This is our first Mazda dealership in Brisbane and further strengthens the group’s portfolio of brands in Queensland,” Mr Howson said.

“The recent acquisitions and the new Mazda franchise continue the group’s strategy of establishing or acquiring automotive dealerships within areas that form vibrant and operationally efficient retail hubs.”

Last month, AHG acquired the Paceway Mitsubishi dealership in Osborne Park and a dealership in Brisbane, which sells Chrysler, Jeep Dodge, Alfa Romeo and Fiat models.

The new Mazda dealership will begin trading from temporary premises while the new dealership is built.

AHG has a Mazda dealership in Osborne Park and several in New South Wales.

AHG shares were 0.2 per cent lower to $4.24 per share at 10:30am.
