NRW Holdings has been awarded about $72 million in contracts through its subsidiaries, Golding Contractors and RCR Mining Technologies.

Golding Contractors has added $50 million of work to its existing contract at the Curragh mine in Queensland, and RCR Mining Technologies has been awarded about $22 million worth of contracts to supply process equipment and support activities in Western Australia.

Golding Contractors received a letter of direction from Coronado Curragh to expand its main mine.

Golding will supply all major equipment used to expand the mine, including a Caterpillar 6060 excavator, four hired Komatsu 830E trucks, and an ancillary plant.

In a statement, NRW Holdings said the additional $50 million took the total value of the contract to $230 million over the remaining term until completion in September 2021.

NRW chief executive and managing director Jules Pemberton said the additional fleet represented an expansion of scope in a contract with Coronado, which began in 2014 and reflected NRW’s continued ability to provide solutions to expand client operations.

Golding chief executive general manager Geoff Caton said he had worked closely with Coronado’s management team in recent months to examine a range of options to maximise value from the mine.

“The fleet will commence the mobilisation process during April for commissioning early FY20,” he said.

RCR Mining Technologies has new contracts to supply process equipment and support activities after being bought by NRW Holdings for $10 million earlier this year.

Mr Pemberton said the orders for new equipment represented an important vote of confidence by key clients in the quality of the products supplied by RCR.

“The growing demand for product support and heat treatment activities is important as part of the groups move to establish a growing base of recurring income,” he said.

“Since acquiring the business in February integration activities have progressed well and winning this work is particularly welcome news to our workforce in Bunbury and Welshpool.”
