6PR claws way back

RADIO station 6PR has continued to win back sections of the Perth radio audience with the latest Nielsen radio ratings revealing percentage point increases in all timeslots and an increase in its share of listeners from 7.3 per cent to 10.3 per cent. The station’s breakfast presenters, Tony McManus and Steve Mills, gained 3.5 percentage points, taking their audience share to 11.2, while leader MIX 94.5 stayed at 17 per cent. ABC720’s Eoin Cameron lost 0.7 percentage points, taking him to 14.4 per cent, and NOVA93.7 finished third on 12.2 per cent, a 0.6 percentage point increase. 96FM lost audience numbers in all time slots and its overall radio share dropped from 14.2 per cent to 11.7 per cent. 6PR’s morning presenter Paul Murray closed the gap on ABC’s Liam Bartlett to 0.2 per cent, by gaining 2.9 percentage points to 10.9 per cent. Excluding the 7pm to midnight category, MIX 94.5 led every timeslot while 92.9 and 96FM lost audience share in every program time, except for a small gain by 92.9 in the afternoons. Despite falling from 31.2 per cent to 26.1 per cent, NOVA93.7 still dominated the 18-to-24 age group, ahead of 96FM on 18.8 per cent. Triple J followed on 17.7 per cent, a 6.8 percentage point jump, and then MIX 94.5 on 15.6 per cent. 96FM leads the 25-to-39 age group despite dropping 3.5 percentage points. MIX 94.5 and NOVA 93.7 followed. MIX 94.5 continues its domination of the 40-to-54 age group despite a drop of 2 percentage points to 23.5 per cent. ABC 720 ranked second after climbing 3.7 percentage points to 13 per cent and 6PR was third with a 4.3 percentage point increase from 6.6 per cent.
