WA ENGINEERING firm Clough has won a $60 million contract to develop an oil and gas field in the Bay of Bengal.
The win is the latest in a string of successes for the company in the oil and gas sector.
In early July it secured an alliance with US-based Unocal, worth a minimum of $250 million for the first seven years, to undertake all its gas wellhead platforms and pipelines development work in the Gulf of Thailand. The alliance will soon deliver its first confirmed contracts.
Earlier this month Clough won contracts worth more than $38 million for Shell Brunei in the South China Sea and for Apache Energy’s new Gipsy field off north-western WA.
It has also won one sixth of the work on the $600 million Syntroleum natural gas-to-liquids project on the Burrup Peninsular.
Under the new contract in the Ravva field off India’s central eastern coast, Clough will undertake the design, engineering development, procurement, fabrication, load out and transportation, installation and commissioning of a gas wellhead platform and a number of submarine and onshore pipelines, plus onshore gas processing facilities.
The shallow water, inshore Ravva oil and gas field produces 50,000 barrels oil and 800,000 cubic metres of gas per day that is piped ashore for processing and then sold domestically.
Cairn Energy is the operator of a joint venture that has entered into a production sharing agreement with the Indian Government to develop the Ravva field.
The joint venture has discovered a new gas reservoir that is to be developed as a satellite field.
The other participants in the joint venture include Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, Videocon Petroleum Limited and Ravva Oil.
