Tony Howarth has spent over 35 years in the banking and finance industry. Uniquely, he has held executive positions in government, regional and major banks, building societies and stock broking. Tony’s experience includes both the retail and wholesale finance sectors as well as international experience in London, Hamburg and New York.

Tony is currently Chairman of Alinta Limited and Home Building Society Limited and a non-executive director of AWB Limited and Mermaid Marine Australia Limited.

In addition, Tony is Chairman of the St John of God Health Care Group and a director of the Rio-Tinto WA Future Fund, among others.

Tony is also on the University of Western Australia’s Senate, the WA State Council of the Institute of Company Directors, the Prime Ministers Community Business Partnership and is Deputy Chair of the Australia Council’s Major Performing Arts Board.

In June 2002 Tony was awarded an Officer of Australia (AO) for his “service to business and finance and to the community through a range of health, cultural, education and sporting groups”.

In March 2003 Tony was awarded an honorary “Doctorate in Laws” by the University of Western Australia.
