Join AmCham as we hear from CCI's new CEO, Deidre Willmott.

Ms Willmott was announced the Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s newly appointed Chief Executive Officer at the end of 2013. 

Ms Willmott is a leading and active figure in WA’s resources and energy sectors, which she serves as a member of the AMEC Council and Vice President of the Chamber of Minerals & Energy. She has held a number of other high profile roles in industry and government, including, Chief of Staff to Hon Colin Barnett, Chief of Staff to former Premier Hon Richard Court, pre-selection for the seat of Cottesloe, Executive Director: Policy for the Chamber of Commerce & Industry WA and General Manager Executive Services at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Ms Willmott commenced her career as a lawyer and is an accomplished and prominent external relations executive, and recently held the role as Executive Chairman with Strategic communications consultancy and STW Group subsidiary, Cannings Purple after fulfilling her obligations as Director External Relations at Fortescue Metals Group Ltd.

In 2010, Ms Willmott joined Fortescue where she was responsible for relations with all levels of Government, particularly in securing approvals for Fortescue’s major expansion projects. Other responsibilities in this role included Fortescue’s Aboriginal training and employment program, and Aboriginal contracting and business development.
