The New Pilbara Economic Development Conference

The Pilbara Regional Chambers of Commerce will host the Pilbara Economic Development Conference on Tuesday, 29 November 2016 at the Hyatt Regency in Perth.

Aptly themed “The New Pilbara”, the conference will attract key community and business stakeholders to engage in a timely discussion about the diversification of the Pilbara’s economic base and highlight emerging industries that have the potential to drive sustained economic growth across the Pilbara region.

The New Pilbara will excite lively discussion about the next step in the transformation of the economic powerhouse region, that has been driven by the State Government’s $1.7 billion Pilbara Cities initiative, delivering more than 100 projects across the region to improve community facilities, town centres, infrastructure capacity and land availability.

This event will be a vital platform that places the Pilbara region, its people and possibilities, at the forefront of some of Australia’s leading political, business and strategic minds.

The Hon. Brendon Grylls MLA will lead the order of proceedings and the morning sessions as the Master of Ceremonies. The morning’s panel will highlight local opportunities to capitalise on the region’s growth and development as well as exploring the Pilbara’s Regional Investment Blueprint in the areas of tourism, liveability, business start-ups and natural assets.

The afternoon sessions, led by Kitty Prodonovich as the Master of Ceremonies, will explore the emerging industries that have the potential to drive sustained economic growth and diversification across the region. The region’s rich minerals and energy portfolio will be showcased, while the afternoon is sure to invite investigation and discussion about agriculture, renewable energy and education.

The 2016 Pilbara Economic Development Conference is expected to attract more than 250 delegates including senior government leaders, heads of government agencies, mining executives, and industry leaders and key decision makers from the tourism, resources, logistics, technology and environmental industries.
