Success and Leadership Breakfast with Business News
Join Business News for Breakfast as our CEO, Mark Pownall chats with Charlie Bass, CEO and Managing Director of Eagle Mountain Mining.
If there is someone who epitomises Western Australia's own variation on STEM, it has to be Charlie Bass. As a qualified geologist and mining engineer, Charlie Bass first ventured to WA 40 years ago to work in the local mining sector. In the 1990s, he was a founder of gold company Eagle Mining and in 2000, he jointly established iron ore player Aquila Resources. Ater selling out of Aquila, he turned his attention to fostering the business talents of WA's scientists by opening the Centre of Entrepreneurial Research and Innovation. His philanthropy also extends to funding education for disadvantaged children. Lately, his entrepreneurial attention has been drawn back to mining. His ASX-listed company Eagle Mountain Mining has acquired copper-gold leases in Arizona and Charlie is excited to be back in the mining saddle again.
