Knowledge, techniques and processes ‘borrowed’ from other areas of psychology are often suitable to use in differing professional circumstances and can yield similar positive outcomes. The opportunity to recognise the unique technical similarities between sport and organisational psychology will be discussed extensively in this CPD event.

This seminar offers attendees an opportunity to gain insights into processes used by sport psychologists and to discuss their applicability to the practice of Organisational Psychology. Dr Sandy Gordon (UWA) and Jodii Maguire (Think Performance Psychology) will co-present on methods utilised by sport psychologists to build high-performing teams on and off the field.
 Sandy Gordon will discuss two new methods utilised by Sports Psychologists to build high performing teams: Open-space technology and Appreciative-Inquiry process.
 Jodii Maguire will share some insights into the current parallels of assessing, developing and improving performance in the business and sporting domains. She will also touch on some of the ways that business and sport can learn from each other.
 Finally, Organisational Psychologist, Justine McGillivray (Worksafe) will facilitate an interactive discussion with the audience interfacing both disciplines on the topic of creating high performing teams.
