Come and celebrate the beginning of summer as the Perth Cultural Centre plays host to a stylin’ launch party on the urban beach installation Rock Away Beach.
Step out from the concrete and onto the sand to join a 1950’s style beach party, with the Sugartown Two entertaining with their stripped-back country blues tunes, and Bar Pop serving ice cold Matsos and Feral draft beers, Western Australian wine, and coconut cocktails from the back of their 1946 bright orange Chevrolet Ute called Poppy.
The event is to celebrate the opening of Rock Away Beach which will see 45 tonnes of sand creating two distinct beaches within the Perth Cultural Centre - a shaded beach for children with buckets and spades, and a relaxing adult’s beach with sun lounges. There are bench seats and potted trees that surround both areas, as well as free use of giant chess and Jenga games for attendees to play.
Rock Away Beach Launch Party will be held 5:30pm to 10pm, December 5. Entry is free. Rock Away Beach will be in the Perth Cultural Centre from December 5 until February 1.
