No need to drive to the coast, rock away the summer in the heart of the city as the Perth Cultural Centre hosts a stylin’ 1950s urban beach.
Two beaches have been created in the Perth Cultural Centre - a shaded beach for children with buckets and spades, and a relaxing adult’s beach with sun lounges in the James Street amphitheatre.
There are bench seats and potted trees that surround both areas, as well as free use of giant chess and jenga games for everyone to enjoy.
Throughout the beach season, urban beach goers will be entertained in the evenings with music and movies, while Bar Pop will turn ‘Rock Away Beach’ into a rocking beach bar.
The Perth Cultural Centre big screen will be showing classic Elvis movies on Wednesdays and Sundays, short film festival Tropfest on Sunday 7 December and will also serve as a unique viewing location to watch the Boxing Day Test cricket match, Australia v India.
‘Rock Away Beach’ will be open from December 5 until February 1. Entry is free.
