Regional event: Placing Albany on the map of the world’s leading renewable energy cities
26 March 2018
Albany Entertainment Centre
2 Toll Place (off Princess Royal Drive)
The Western Australian Government’s Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development has awarded $15.75m grant funding to Carnegie’s CETO technology and Albany Wave Energy Project (AWEP) following the completion of a globally competitive tender process for wave energy developers. In addition, the WA Government has awarded $3.75 million to the University of Western Australia to establish the Wave Energy Research Centre in Albany. The Wave Energy Research Centre will support Carnegie in the development of AWEP and will elevate Western Australia to the forefront of offshore renewable energy research and technology.
The Great Southern Region is well placed to host this new exciting initiative, with the coastal waters off Torbay-Albany ideally suited for harnessing wave energy. Come along to hear more details from representatives of UWA and Carnegie Clean Energy.
