The Labor McGowan Government’s approach to petroleum development in Western Australia.
Bill Johnston was sworn in as the Mines and Petroleum, Commerce and Industrial Relations, Electoral Affairs, and our State’s first Asian Engagement Minister on 17 March 2017. This occurred a week after the WA Labor party’s landslide victory against the Barnett Government’s Liberal National-Alliance. Bill is also the Member for Cannington, having held this position since September 2008. Prior to entering Parliament, he spent seven years as the State Secretary of WA Labor.

Head of Division Safety and Integrity
In this role, Mr O’Keeffe will ensure regulatory requirements around the occupational health and safety of the offshore oil and gas workforce are met. This includes the assessment of Safety Cases and Well Operations Management Plans, and their associated inspection and compliance regimes. Mr O’Keeffe possesses a comprehensive understanding of Australia’s objective-based regulatory regime, having worked for a diverse range of oil and gas companies in Australia. These include Murphy Oil (Country Manager), Strike Energy (Chief Operating Officer), and Woodside (Business Manager).
