By 2050, there could be more than one million people in Perth aged over 65 and more people aged over 65 than there are under 15.

For Perth’s policy and decision makers, how to cater for this ageing population raises a number of important questions. Where will these people live? What kind of homes will they want to live in? How will they get around Perth? Will the health and social services systems be able to cope? Will they have access to adequate services?

During this Perth in Focus luncheon we will focus on the expected demographic changes in our society and the implications for the future.

Perth faces a future ageing crisis if decisions about how these issues will be handled are not made today.

Please join us for lunch as Eric Lumsden PSM, the Chairman of the Western Australian Planning Commission, shares with us Perth’s changing demographics and what the land use and planning implications are for an ageing society.

A panel discussion will follow with speakers from the banking, aged care, community and professional services sectors.
