For the fourth consecutive year, Melbourne was awarded the most liveable city in the world in the Economist Intelligence Unit’s 2014 Global Liveability Index. The EIU assessed 140 cities across the globe and rated them based on their healthcare, stability, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.

Perth was ranked 9th behind Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney.
Melbourne also joined Tokyo and Copenhagen at the top of culture and lifestyle magazine Monocle’s, Quality of Life Survey 2014.

What is it that makes Melbourne the world’s most liveable city? As Perth’s population continues to grow, what can we learn from
Melbourne’s experiences? What mistakes can we avoid? And why do so many Perth people look longingly at Melbourne’s café,restaurant, fashion and sporting culture?

At the Committee for Perth’s first Perth in Focus luncheon for
2015, Melbourne Lord Mayor, Robert Doyle will share his thoughts about why Melbourne has consistently been rated as the world’s most liveable city.

Premier Colin Barnett and Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi will also be part of a panel discussion after the keynote speaker.

The event will examine two key themes:
* What has made Melbourne the world's most liveable city.
* What can Perth learn from Melbourne as it continues to
grow.
