AmCham's Meet the Minister Series provides senior business executives and officers of the Chamber the privilege and benefit of hearing an "off the record" background briefing by the Deputy Premier on important matters of state.

The Hon. Liza Harvey MLA is the Deputy Premier; Minister for Police; Road Safety; Training and Workforce Development; Women's Interests
The Deputy Premier will discuss Western Australia's vocational education and training (VET) sector, focusing on the training sector reform. These recommendations are currently being implemented to increase the sustainability of the VET sector and safeguard Western Australia's public training system.
This discussion will include the following:
• brief overview of Western Australia's VET sector and public training system;
• impetus for the training sector reform project;
• purpose of the reform project including key deliverables and recommendations;
• intended outcomes of the reform project; and
• how the intended outcomes will promote trade, commerce and investment between the United States of America and Western Australia.
Liza represents the electorate of Scarborough in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly, having been elected at the 2008 General Election and then re-elected in March 2013.

As a business owner and an active member in her local community, Liza is acutely aware of the importance of law and order and community safety, both of which are of high priority to the people of Western Australia.

Liza was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Finance; Commerce; Small Business in December 2010 and was promoted to the position of Minister for Police and Road Safety in June 2012. Liza was given the added responsibility of Small Business and Women's Interests after the March 2013 State Election. The Tourism portfolio replaced Small Business in August 2013, which was later replaced in December 2014 by the Training and Workforce Development portfolio.

Liza was officially sworn in as the new Deputy Premier for Western Australia on Tuesday, 16 February 2016.
