International Series Director Briefing: Indonesia and Myanmar Mining Sector Update
20 August 2014
Level 8, 235 St Georges Terrace
Myanmar opened its borders to the international investment community only a few years ago and is experiencing exponential growth. As a resources rich emerging market, it is highly attractive to companies and investors, but comes with substantial risk.
Indonesia, another resources rich country, has recently updated its mining laws. These laws will impact those who intend to do business and for those already active in the mining sector.
The panel will comprise Peter Church, Bill Sullivan and Matthew Pedley of KPMG and they will provide an update on the latest developments in the mining sector in these two countries. Peter was the first Australian lawyer to practice law in Indonesia in 1978 and has been closely involved with the development of the mining sector since that time.
Stephenson Harwood was recently appointed as the Honorary Legal Adviser to the Myanmar Federation of Mining Association (MFMA) and Peter and Bill recently presented at the first seminar held by MFMA on the current and proposed new Mining Law.
Join us at the first of our international series of director briefings in Perth to hear from a highly experienced panel who will share their insights about the key issues that directors, company executives and investors should be aware of in an international context.
