Improving Labour Productivity in a Constrained Maket

Event Date:
04 May 2016
38 Station Street

‘Achieving an Optimal Return on your Remuneration Spend’

The business environment has changed from that experienced during the boom of recent times, with organisations no longer able to rely on rising prices to increase their earnings. Accordingly labour productivity is seen as one of the key methods to improve business performance.

Whilst a plethora of research and theory is available on how to improve labour productivity, what is lacking is a practical and transparent approach to implementing an improvement agenda.

The session will be facilitated by Sherif Andrawes, Corporate Finance Partner and the Chairman of BDO in Perth. Sherif is Lead Partner of BDO Australia’s Natural Resources Group and a member of BDO’s International Natural Resources leadership Group.

Head of BDO Reward Services, Allan Feinberg, will discuss BDO’s propriety approach to labour productivity drawing on some of the work currently being undertaken with Fortescue, and outline how every organisation can develop their own productivity agenda without compromising business sustainability.

Linda O'Farrell, Senior Human Resource Executive, Fortescue Metals Group will discuss some of the productivity initiatives successfully implemented by Fortescue and how this contributed to a reduction of operating costs by almost 50% in 12months, to an average of USD16ton 1HYF16.

Key session takeaways:
*The BDO Labour Productivity Framework – a market first.
*Productivity lessons learnt from an industry leaders perspective
