A new State planning policy, State Planning Policy 3.7 Planning in Bushfire Prone Areas (SPP 3.7) was gazetted on Monday 7 December 2015. SPP 3.7 directs how land use should address bushfire risk management in Western Australia. It applies to all land which has been designated as bushfire prone by the Fire and Emergency Services (FES) Commissioner. Prior to this policy being put in place, Western Australia was faced with catastrophic bushfires, of which badly hit areas Margaret River and Toodyay suffered greatly.

Delegates at this forum will hear from high level experts who can provide insight into valuing property after those devastating fires and the insurance disputes that arose. Cases such as these, form a part of why SPP 3.7 has been created. We will hear from a level 2 accredited provider regarding the Bal Rating System and the assessments required. You will learn about the impacts these additional requirements will have on the building and construction industry. Attendees will come together with presenters to discuss the ramifications of the new policy on the Property Industry and the way forward.
