A WHEATSTONE PROJECT UPDATE
Brian Smith, General Manager-Wheatstone Project, Chevron Australia
Wheatstone is one of Australia's largest resource projects -Wheatstone which provides greater security of supply and significant economic benefits such as employment, government revenue and local business opportunities.
Chevron is the operator of the Wheatstone Project and holds an approximate 73 percent interest in the project.
Gas will be processed at an onshore facility located at Ashburton North, 12km west of Onslow in Western Australia's Pilbara region. The foundation project will include two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 million tonnes per year and a domestic gas plant.
Brian Smith is the General Manager of the Wheatstone Project for Chevron Australia. He has overall accountability for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone LNG and domestic gas project.
Before taking on this role, Brian was General Manager of Major Capital Projects for Chevron's Deepwater Projects in the Gulf of Mexico.
Brian was born in Manchester, England. He graduated from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering with First Class Honors.
He joined Chevron in 1981 and has worked in a variety of assignments in the United Kingdom, Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, Kazakhstan and Chevron's Corporate Offices located in San Ramon, California.
