Educating Directors - Issues and challenges on school boards

Event Date:
29 August 2013
Time:

Venue:

2012 was a difficult year for independent schools with several closures putting the spot light on the governance role of school boards.

Boards deal with a myriad of issues from education philosophy, alignment with culture and faith, industrial relations, demanding parents, underperforming teachers, misbehaving students, bullying, changing regulation, enrolment numbers, school fees and funding buildings and services.

Parents sitting on school boards are non-executive directors with all the legal requirements that attach to this position. To perform well as a non-executive director of a school board requires an understanding of governance and the relationship between the school's education and enrolment strategy, risks and the long term funding of buildings and services.

Please note: our members are asked to please bring along another director from your school board to this important event.
