Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi will deliver the annual Vice-Chancellor's Distinguished Oration at Edith Cowan University's (ECU's) Joondalup Campus on Thursday, 7 November 2013.

Her Oration, entitled 'Quid Pro Quo', is expected to highlight the new opportunities for Perth, which is experiencing unprecedented growth and is now globally recognised as both an energy city and a science city.

She will outline that now is the time to encourage citizens to 'give back' and develop the soft cultural offerings that make a truly successful city.

Ms Scaffidi is the latest in a long line of high-profile speakers to deliver the Vice-Chancellor's Distinguished Oration at ECU.

Past Orators have included The Honourable Chief Justice Dr Robert French AC, Rio Tinto CEO Sam Walsh AO and former WA Education Minister Dr Elizabeth Constable.
