EASTxWEST Forum 2016
'A Trade, Investment and Cultural Exchange'
The EASTxWEST Forum is a biennial event that was established by the Local Governments of Australia’s North West to foster prosperity. It offers an opportunity for the exchange of greater trade, investment and cultural awareness between China and this important Australian region.
Held during the Australian Trade Commissions ‘Australia Week in China, the Forum delivers a challenging schedule of activities designed to stimulate understanding, collaboration, and fresh thinking for the future of this pivotal relationship.
The Forum is centred around five streams; cultural exchange, education, investment, tourism, and migration. It will also include a site visit to the successful Qianhai Free Trade Zone, arranged by event partners AustCham Beijing and their South China branch. The Forum will also offer specific investment matching opportunities for project proponents seeking to attract Chinese investment into projects that contribute to the development of northern Australia.
The Forum also offers a diverse range of cultural interactions; with performances by the Australian Girls Choir, the Shenzhen University performing arts department, and special guest artist-in-residence interspersed with unique access to Chinese cultural experiences.
This year’s event partners are the Australia China Business Council (WA), the Pilbara Regional Council, the Pilbara Development Commission and the China-Australia Chamber of Commerce in Beijing (AustCham Beijing). Each of these organisations makes a strong contribution to the development of regional Australia and the Australia-China relationship more broadly, and will bring enormous value to the program.
Joining the event partners are our major sponsors including Commonwealth Bank of Australia, RSM Australia, Curtin University, and sponsors include Pardoo Beef Corporation, Finbar Group and our airline of choice Singapore Airlines, all of whom are integral to the program of presentations.
The event is proudly supported by all Pilbara and Kimberley Local Governments, the Australian Institute of International Affairs and Future Directions International.
