All funds raised from the auction will be donated to Edmund Rice Camps – a non-profit community based organisation supporting kids who are ‘at risk’, or experiencing some form of disadvantage, funding camps and other recreational and developmental activities.

Dymocks Garden City has hosted many well-known authors over the years including Jodi Picoult, Jeffrey Archer, Monica McINerney, Liz Byrski and Terry Pratchett – the reason why the store has accumulated such a vast range of personally signed books and memorabilia, which will be auctioned off at the charity event.

Participants will have the chance to bid for exclusively signed books from distinguished authors and sporting heroes such as, J.K. Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy, Stephen King’s Wizard and Glass, Michael Caine’s The Elephant to Hollywood, a limited edition of John Bertrand’s Born to Win and the prized Bradman Albums, a limited edition two volume set hand signed by Don Bradman.

A total of 18 unique lots will be auctioned, including cricket bats signed by sporting greats, Adam Gilchrist, Mike Hussey, Justin Langer and Ricky Ponting; a 2013 Good Food and Wine Show table signed by Maggie Beer, Luke Nguyen, Pete Evans, Anna Gare, Alistair McLeod, Miguel Maestre and Matt Stone; a signed copy of Heston Blumenthal’s Fantastical Feasts and a signed special cloth-covered edition of Christos Tsiolkas’ bestselling book, The Slap.

As part of the activity to raise money for Edmund Rice Camps, customers to Dymocks Garden City can get involved with a ‘guess the value of the bookcase’ competition, which runs from Monday, 12 August to 1pm on Saturday, 24 August. By submitting a gold coin donation, participants will have the opportunity to win the bookcase displayed instore complete with all the books on the shelves – a range of the latest new releases, autobiographies, cook books, classics, fantasy and many more – by guessing the total value of the case and books.

In addition, on the day of the auction, visitors to the store who spend $35 or more will be eligible to take part in a lucky dip, where a range of classic novels will be up for grabs for participating customers.
