Directors on Tour: Bunbury Site Visit, Iluka Resources
09 April 2013
Join us for the first event in the South West region for 2013 as we venture on a site visit to the Iluka Resources Processing Site.
Iluka Resources Limited is the major producer of zircon globally, and a significant producer of the high-grade titanium dioxide products of rutile and synthetic rutile. The main mineral sands products of rutile, synthetic rutile, ilmenite and zircon have a wide range of consumer, lifestyle, and industrial applications. These include pigment production used in paints, plastics, papers, titanium metal production, welding electrodes, floor and wall tiles, zirconium based chemicals, and zirconia metal applications.
Iluka’s Western Australian operations constitute mining and processing operations, as well as synthetic rutile operations. This includes mining operations at Tutunup South (near Capel), a dry separation plant at Capel, the Narngulu mineral separation plant near Geraldton and four synthetic rutile kilns located at Capel and Narngulu. The major part of Iluka’s production base is in Australia, with mining and processing operations in Virginia, USA.
The company employs over 1,100 people across its operations, and a similar number of contractors.
After an overview presentation at the Capel office by the Southwest Operations Manager, guests will then be driven to our North Capel site for a bus tour through the Processing Plant.
PLEASE NOTE: In accordance with the site’s OHS requirements, all attendees will be required to wear long sleeves, long pants and closed-in shoes whilst on site and on the tour.
