The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) will hold a panel discussion addressing board responsibilities on the eve of incoming Australian Government legislation regarding modern slavery.

Boards will soon be responsible for mandatory public statements about their company’s efforts to manage the risk of modern slavery in their operations and, often, complex supply chains. During our discussion, we’ll provide you with an understanding of the risks and requirements of the incoming Commonwealth legislation and NSW Modern Slavery Act. We’ll also explain how your company can prepare to manage modern slavery risks, including:

- the risk exposure for your business
- key modern slavery risk factors and trends
- the mandatory reporting criteria
- assessing your current readiness
- practical responses to the reporting requirements and next steps.

Join us and our expert panel led by Richard Boele, KPMG’s Global Lead for Human Rights & Social Impact Services, as we discuss why modern slavery laws need to be on your board’s radar.

“We are all going to have slavery in our supply chains no matter how good we think our corporate social responsibility is” – Andrew Forrest, chairman of Fortescue Mining Group and Walk Free Foundation.
