Directors' Breakfast: Productivity Commission chairman Peter Harris
19 November 2013
University Club Of Western Australia
Directors' Breakfast with Peter Harris AO, Productivity Commission
Australia ranked second-last on a ranking of productivity growth, ahead of only Botswana in a recent report**
With more money invested in resource projects in the past five years than in the previous 20, Australia has been riding the wave of Asia’s economic growth to meet unprecedented demand in China and other emerging markets. However the resources boom is hiding some weakening fundamentals and growth in labour productivity has fallen to just 0.3%. Capital productivity is now the biggest drag on income growth.
The Productivity Commission is the Australian Government's independent research and advisory body on a range of economic, social and environmental issues affecting the welfare of Australians. Its role, expressed simply, is to help governments make better policies in the long term interest of the Australian community.
Join us at this breakfast, network with your peers and hear exclusively from Peter Harris, Chairman of the Productivity Commission to learn the state of play and what you can do as a Director to enable long term growth for your organisation.
