In what has become a treasured Christmas tradition over the past fifteen years, the Collegium Symphonic Chorus is proud to present the perennially beloved Handel’s Messiah.

Though well known worldwide the Messiah is nevertheless unique – it is unequalled in its powerful dramatization of the Christmas story, its diversity of musical beauty and grandeur. The many glorious arias and the stirringly emotional choruses are testament to its overwhelming popularity.

The ninety strong voice ensemble together with their own Collegium Baroque Orchestra and featuring four magnificent soloists will soar to fill the brilliant acoustics of the Perth Concert Hall with wondrous and joyful song and music.

Specially featured in this year’s Messiah is internationally renowned soprano Vivien Hamilton who will travel to Perth for this one performance. The Collegium has been fortunate to secure the services of Vivien who is regarded as one of Australia’s most informed and respected Baroque soloists. Her concerts are described as scintillating, refreshing and her voice the vehicle of great beauty.

She will be joined onstage by the well-loved Perth mezzo soprano Fiona Campbell, Melbourne tenor

Robert Macfarlane and Perth baritone Robert Hofmann.

Supremely talented violinist Paul Wright will once again lead the wonderful Collegium Baroque Orchestra as Concert Master.

As always the orchestra and chorus will be under the baton of the legendary Dr Margaret Pride. A  name that has become synonymous with musical excellence far beyond the shores of Western Australia. She has won many awards, the most recent being a Centenary Medal from the Prime Minister of Australia in recognition of her services to choral music .Choral music is her passion and her life work.

Be part of this wonderful uplifting Christmas celebration!
