CEDA - WA Treasurer - the microeconomic reform agenda
13 April 2018
BelleVue Ballroom 1, Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre
21 Mounts Bay Road
Western Australia’s Treasurer, the Hon. Ben Wyatt, will announce the McGowan Government’s plans to boost WA’s economic competitiveness at this CEDA event.
Not since the Keating-initiated National Competition Policy (NCP) reforms has there been a successful wholesale microeconomic reform program. Like the NCP reforms, credited as the driving-force behind Australia’s ‘golden era’ of productivity growth, the Government’s reform agenda is aimed at underpinning substantial growth in jobs and household incomes in WA.
With an ageing population and increasingly competitive global marketplace, achieving sustained increases in Western Australians’ living standards will rely more and more on achieving productivity growth.
In this speech, WA Treasurer Ben Wyatt will outline the unique economic challenges facing Western Australia, and how the Government intends to use microeconomic reform to help lay the foundations for WA to develop into a modern and thriving economy. An economy that can take on the challenges of today’s world — and win convincingly.
