CCI Annual Economic Breakfast: The Lucky Country?
23 October 2012
Reserve Bank Governor Glenn Stevens has recently spruiked Australia’s economic strength and resilience in a time of unprecedented uncertainty abroad and rapid structural change closer to home.
While China’s rapid growth and development has certainly played its part in Australia’s recent economic success, so too has the significant productivity enhancing reforms of the 1980s and 1990s.
However, there are now signs that global economic headwinds are starting to affect the investment pipeline in our booming resources sector. The billion dollar question is whether we will continue to buck these global trends in the absence of a new round of economic reforms?
CCI invites members to hear Chief Economist John Nicolaou present his perspective on the latest trends and conditions in the WA economy, and provide an insight into whether the good fortune is set to continue.
Speaker - John Nicolaou, Chief Economist, CCI WA
