"Manufacturing in Australia for the Export Market. How Matrix competes in the Global arena."
Manufacturing in Australia presents many challenges which are magnified when over 85% of a company's revenue is derived from the export market. The Australian landscape is littered with corpses of hundreds of manufacturers who have not been able to compete in the environment that our industry has been forced to operate within.
So why are Matrix Composites & Engineering different? Why have they succeeded to become the global leader in the manufacture and supply of subsea buoyancy systems for the oil and gas, and resources industries? Why have they recently invested $68 million in building a manufacturing plant in Henderson, WA, the largest and most technically advanced composite syntactic plant in the world?
Come along and hear Aaron Begley, CEO of Matrix, the only Australian major manufacturer and exporter of equipment to the global oil and gas industry, talk about the challenges that Australian manufactures and exporters face and the innovative approaches that Matrix takes for it to remain competitive on a global scale.

Aaron Begley, CEO of Matrix Composites & Engineering Ltd (Matrix) leads a highly successful Western Australian manufacturing company listed on the ASX300. Matrix is involved in the design, testing, manufacturer and service of engineered products for use in the oil and gas and resources industries.
Aaron has been involved in the manufacturer of engineered products for the oil and gas and resources industries since he left university and began working for his father who owned Begley International, a heavy engineering company that has now been incorporated into Matrix Composites & Engineering.
Living and breathing the industry and experiencing the dramatic highs and lows over the last few decades, Aaron was in a prime position to recognise an opportunity for the use of composite materials in the offshore and subsea sector. This eventually led to the 2009 listing of the company and the expansion of its product range using its core composite and polymer materials.
