Growing WA | Ensuring prosperity and diversity through good planning and design

Join our panel of political and industry leaders in a Q&A format exploring critical economic, social, environmental and governance issues that will shape WA’s prosperity.

Western Australia is at an important point in its economic and cultural history. Well known for being home of the mining boom and, regrettably, the biggest loser in the GST carve-up, but what else is the State doing and indeed what should it be doing to capitalise on its uniqueness?

Anyone who hasn’t been to Perth in the last 10 years will be amazed at the growth and transformation that has taken place. The CBD has seen the biggest change and will be virtually unrecognisable when the cranes and tunnelling machinery have finished reconnecting it to Northbridge and the river.

The fast pace of growth in WA presents the State with obvious infrastructure and management challenges, but it also hands us an opportunity to demonstrate new and innovative thinking in the way we plan and design our communities.
