Australia in the Asian Century Country Strategies
06 May 2013
Level 8 Conference room, Exchange Plaza
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade invites you to take part in our consultations on the Australia in the Asian Century country strategies to be held in Perth.
The Australian Government is seeking input to assist in developing the Australia in the Asian Century country strategies for Japan, China, Indonesia, India and South Korea. The country strategies will contribute to the development of a whole-of-Australia approach to strengthening relations with key regional partners across all levels of government, institutions and the community. The strategies will be forward-looking documents outlining a vision of where the relationships should be in 2025, and how Australia intends to get there.
The session will include a presentation by DFAT Assistant Secretary Mark Pierce about developing the country strategies, and an overview of each of the five strategies, followed by an open discussion forum where participants are encouraged to share their experiences, plans and ideas.
In particular, we would like to discuss initiatives that are already being implemented or are planned that contribute to achieving White Paper objectives. The full White Paper is available at http://asiancentury.dpmc.gov.au/white-paper.
Please RSVP – acceptances only (email: email@example.com phone: (08) 9231 4472) by COB Wednesday 1 May 2013.
If you are unable to attend one of these sessions, we still encourage you to consider making an online submission related to one or more of the country strategies via the DFAT website, at http://www.dfat.gov.au/issues/asian-century/ noting that submissions will need to be received by 31 May 2013.
