Roy Hill is a landmark mining project and one of the largest of its kind ever undertaken in Australia.

With integrated mine, rail and port facilities – Roy Hill is one of the world’s major resource based projects which will deliver enormous benefits to the broader community for years to come.

In March 2014, Roy Hill and its shareholders signed the $US7.2 billion Roy Hill Project finance facility, completing the full funding package required to develop the project. The debt deal came after years of speculation the project would struggle to secure debt funding, as other Pilbara miners slashed expenditure after a fall in iron ore prices and rising Australian costs.

Today, the construction of the Roy Hill project continues to track well. At more than 70% complete, the project is well positioned to deliver first ore on ship within the scheduled timeframe of September 2015.

Instrumental in securing the record breaking finance deal, Garry Korte – Chief Financial Officer will provide his insight into the key drivers and attributes underpinning the project’s success so far and which position the Roy Hill project as “here for the long haul”.

Garry Korte was appointed Chief Financial Officer for Roy Hill Holdings in May 2012. Prior to this he was CFO for Paladin Energy Ltd, a mining company with a portfolio of uranium mines and projects. Garry is a Chartered Accountant with 20 years’ experience in mining and related industries. His career began with PriceWaterhouseCoopers before working with Credit Suisse as well as Brambles Industrial Services.
