Accountants' Exemption
The Commonwealth Government is removing the so-called "accountants' exemption" from the Corporations Regulations and is introducing a new Australian Financial Services licencing system aimed at accountants who provide services relating to financial products, including services related to self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs). Accountants working in this area will need to understand and enter the system if they wish to continue to service their clients in this area.
At the same time, the events of the recent years have created a crisis of confidence in the financial advisory industry in segments of the public. Now more than ever, the public are seeking truly independent, professional advice and this may arguably be the catalyst for opening the doors for accountants to provide a broader range of services to their clients.
This seminar will cover the changes and the new licensing system.
