Utility scale solar PV in Australia is a maturing market and is fast becoming a pivotal part of the energy mix. The solar hybrid market is on a similar path, however, there are still many major remote power networks that remain fixed on fossil fuel generation. Why is this the case when the cost of diesel generation is so high?

This presentation will identify the technical challenges (solar/battery/diesel integration) and commercial challenges (Mine Contract, Financial Risks) that juwi has encountered with solar hybrid developments. By specifically discussing the Degrussa Solar Project, juwi will provide an understanding on the risks and returns on such projects to, and assist with, determining the way forward in this market.
