Fellows Luncheon with The Honourable Dr Brendan Nelson

Dr Nelson will provide his reflections on his time as Australia's Ambassador to the European Union and NATO,
as a Federal Member of Parliament and his plans for the ANZAC Centenary in 2015.

The event will provide a unique occasion to recognise the contribution of this important group of members and

Brendan Nelson
Director, Australian War Memorial

Dr Brendan Nelson is a former Australian politician and former federal Opposition leader. A doctor by profession, he came to public prominence as Education Minister and then Minister for Defencee in the third and fourth terms of the Howard Government.

Nelson was elected as the Leader of the Opposition for the Liberal Party on 3 December 2007 but lost to Malcolm Turnbull nine months later.

In 2009 he announced his forthcoming retirement from politics and became the next Ambassador to the European Union, Belgium and Luxembourg as well as Australia's Special Representative at the World Health Organisation and NATO.

Most recently in 2012, Nelson became Director of the Australian War Memorial.
