ACS Dennis Moore Oration Dinner
12 September 2012
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first stored-program digital computer in Western Australia. In September 1962, the IBM 1620 arrived on a ship from Brazil to be placed in the hands of the father-figure of computing in WA Dennis Moore.
To celebrate this momentous anniversary, the Australian Computer Society (ACS) Dennis Moore Oration Dinner will be held. The night will be dedicated to the past 50 years of computing in Western Australia, which will be held on the 12th September at the University of WA Club, from 7pm to 10pm, with Dennis Moore as a special guest.
Each year a speaker will present on the latest in computing. This year Professor Andrew Rohl, the outgoing iVEC Executive Director, will be speaking on Super Computers.
