2014 Economic and Political Overview
Overview
CEDA welcomes Mike Smith, CEO, ANZ and Hon. Troy Buswell, State Treasurer, for our annual flagship event, the Economic and Political Overview, as we forecast Australia's economic and political landscape for the coming year.
After a period of prosperity, the Western Australian economy slowed down rapidly in 2013 as the resources sector plateaued. Suddenly the State Government, which in 2012 had invested more than $300 million into a Future Fund, is now facing declining revenue streams from both mining and the GST, with debt escalating to $22 billion. Meanwhile, concerns surrounding the cost of living and housing affordability in WA continue to grow.
Join CEDA and speakers to discuss:
- If the State Government can overcome these fiscal challenges and still meet its election promises, particularly its flagship infrastructure projects?
- How will the change of Federal Government impact Western Australia?
- If we can expect better outcomes from the Liberal Coalition?
- What is the likely effect of the new Federal Government's fiscal policies?
- If we will see the economic landscape improve or will volatile market conditions continue to impact WA's key industries?
All guests will receive a copy of CEDA's 2014 Economic and Political Overview report.
