ABOUT THE SENATOR

The Hon Mathias Cormann has been a Liberal Party of Australia Senator for Western Australia since 2007. He was appointed to the Abbott Government’s Cabinet as Minister for Finance in 2013. He is the first Western Australian Liberal to hold the position of Minister for Finance. Born and educated in Belgium, he moved to Australia in the 90s and worked in advisory capacities in both WA State and Federal Politics and later in the health insurance field. In 2001, realising a childhood dream, he obtained his private pilot’s license.
