WestNet, State agree on grain rail plan

WestNet Rail has resumed operations on four regional rail lines after striking an agreement with the Barnett government to assess the long-term future of the state's run-down grain rail network.

I agree that the Northam to Albany line needs upgrading for grain transport. However at the same time it should be upgraded to a standard suitable for medium to high speed passenger trains. Our rail network will be vital in the near future for transport and sustaining our economy in the age of peak oil.
