Once again, our current government has shown blatant disregard for the South West. Could the real reason be because this is a safe Liberal and National Party electorate? I think so. As Libby Mettam pointed out, why else would you (potentially) hand such an iconic event straight to the eastern states? Arrogant ignorance at its worst.

Swan Valley now in Margaret River? Just dumb. Expanded airport for the region, a growing premium brand event with multiple internationally recognised ambassadors providing ongoing free publicity? Which marketing guru decided that would never work. Too many silvertail tourists spending money in the wrong electorates; couldn't have that. Parochial politicking at its worst. Plenty more to come, Rottnest et al. But watch out for the Rockingham Riviera ... coming soon.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. These politicians need to get out of their office and see what is really going in the real world. Keep it in Margs.

Why are they interfering? These areas are different and unique in their own right. It should be retained in the areas to help support, grow and develop the other small businesses as well. Once again Big Brother needs to pull its head in and use some common sense. Small business is doing it hard enough without ridiculous rulings like this. What has happened to the concept of decentralisation?
