WestStar Industrial has secured an $8 million contract for construction work at Tianqi Lithium’s Kwinana processing plant.

Under the contract, WestStar subsidiary SIMPEC will install piping and insulation for the processing plant’s Pyromet area.

Head contractor for the project, MSP Engineering, awarded the contract, which follows on from SIMPEC’s work for MSP at Talison’s Greenbushes mine.

The contract is WestStar’s largest to date, and takes the company’s order book to $25 million for the 2019 financial year.

SIMPEC managing director Mark Dimasi said the contract put the company in a strong position.

“This significant award is a true reflection of our team’s performance to date,” he said.

“It recognises an outstanding effort in not just tendering, but project delivery and places SIMPEC in a great position for future work in this field.

“I personally would like to thank all the MSP personnel for supporting our team to help deliver such a prestigious project.”

Shares in WestStar finished up 38.5 per cent at 1.87 cents each today.
