Wammco to install 3MW energy facility

WAMMCO has signed on Queensland-based ReNu Energy to build a 3.1-megawatt bioenergy and solar facility at the sheep meat producer’s Katanning abattoir.
The two companies have executed a term sheet for the construction and operation of the integrated facility under a build own and operate model.
The project will include construction of a new covered anaerobic lagoon to treat the abattoir waste water and provide biogas for use in electricity generation, along with the installation of a 600-kilowatt biogass generator and 2.5MW of ground mounted solar photovoltaic.
The project is commercially supported by a 20-year power purchase agreement.
The news comes after ReNu built a 1.6MW bioenergy facility at Wammco’s Southern Meats facility at Goulbourn in New South Wales.
“We are proud of what we have achieved to date with Wammco at our bioenergy facility on their Southern Meats plant in Goulburn, and we greatly appreciate the opportunity to work on a second facility with them at their Western Australian abattoir,” ReNu chief executive Craig Ricato said.
“We will work closely with the Wammco WA site team over the next few months as we undertake the necessary site technical due diligence studies and prepare the FEED documentation for this project.”
