reiwa.com rental listing data for the overall market crossed the 10,000 mark during the second week of January this year.

As of the recent week ending 26 January 2016, rental listings have increased by 5 per cent from 9,602 recorded four weeks ago to 10,104 this week.

The number of properties for rent continues to creep up over the past few months after remaining fairly stable during mid-August and September 2015. This time last year, rental listings were sitting at 6,273 which represents a 61 per cent increase from this level.

Looking at the individual sectors, reiwa.com data shows that rental listings remained fairly stable over the week to record 10,104 listings.

Rental listings for houses reported a virtually unchanged percentage at 6,189 this week. Nevertheless, rental listings for units recorded a marginal decline of 1 per cent over to week to record 3,906 this week.

The median rent for the three months to December 2015 is $400 for the overall market, $405 for houses and $380 for units in the Perth Metropolitan Region.
