Engineering and infrastructure group RCR Tomlinson has won a contract to provide early work on a solar farm in Queensland for Origin Energy for an undisclosed sum.

Under the early contractor involvement contract, RCR will provide design and engineering expertise for the large-scale solar farm, located in Dalby.

The site of the project is adjacent to Origin’s 630 megawatt Darling Downs power station, and is permitted to deliver up to 200MW of generation capacity.

Once Origin has received grant funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency and regulatory approvals from the federal and Queensland governments, it will award RCR a contract for the development of the proposed solar farm.

“We are delighted to have been selected by Origin to participate in the design and development of this major solar farm project,” RCR managing director Paul Dalgleish said.

“Securing this ECI with Origin, against our major competitors, is a great success for RCR and confirms the company as one of the company’s leading energy solutions specialists.

“The project leverages our intellectual capital in the design and construction of large-scale energy generation assets.”

RCR shares were 13.6 per cent higher to $1.43 at 12:45pm.
