Province’s HyEnergy project given lead agency

The state government has awarded Province Resources’ green hydrogen project HyEnergy with lead agency status, lifting the group’s shares by more than 7 per cent.

The Gascoyne-based project is made up of wind and solar infrastructure, including an eight-gigawatt renewable power facility, designed to supply domestic and offshore markets.

Its agency status will mean higher collaboration between the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation and the company.

Province has partnered with French independent renewable power producer Total Eren to complete scoping studies for the project, which are now close to being complete.

State Hydrogen Minister Alannah MacTiernan announced the lead agency status at the weekend, as part of Province’s Carnarvon office opening.

“Lead Agency Status recognises the very real significance of Province’s HyEnergy Project as we position WA as a global renewable hydrogen force,” Ms MacTiernan said.

“This will deliver to the project access to coordinated and streamlined Government support.

“We look forward to continuing to work with Province on this opportunity for the Gascoyne region and for our State.”

Province Resources managing director David Frances said the awarding of lead agency status signalled the achievement of an important milestone for the HyEnergy Project.

“The decision also elevates the status of the HyEnergy Project as a significant development for the State, and one which will make a major economic contribution to the Gascoyne region and beyond,” he said.

He said the status would help in obtaining government approvals.

Province’s shares rose by 7.14 per cent as the market opened, to 15 cents. At the time of writing, its shares were 14 cents.
