WA Super has made two executive promotions. General manager, client services Paul Owen has been elevated to chief operating officer, while head of advice Quyen Truong has joined the executive team as general manager, advice and distribution. Mr  Owen joined the company in 2006, after working as City of Melville's director, planning and development. He is chair of the Penrhos College council. Ms  Truong has worked in the financial services industry since 2004, for companies including ING Direct, RI Advice Group, Colonial First State, and St Andrews.

KPMG Perth partner Trevor Hart has been named global head, mining. Mr  Hart becomes the first Australian to hold the role. He became a partner of the firm in 2000 and has been with the firm for over 28 years. Notably, Mr  Hart spent seven years as auditor responsible for BHP Iron Ore. He has led the Perth audit team for nine years, and is a past chair of the national audit quality committee.

LJ Hooker Commercial has recruited Brian Neo as director, commercial. Mr  Neo leaves Burgess Rawson after 14 years, including six years as an equity partner. He specialises in office, healthcare, and retail in the inner western suburbs.

Automotive Holdings Group has appointed Craig Bigley executive general manager of its easyauto123 subsidiary. Mr  Bigley was previously Officeworks general manager, retail and business. Prior to joining Officeworks as national operations manager in 2011, he worked in senior management roles for Telstra’s licenced store program and for Lidl in the UK.

Georgiou Group has appointed Brian Riggall a non-executive member of its advisory board. He replaces Joe Trio, who will retire at the end of June. Mr  Trio has served on the board since its establishment in 2003, and was chair from 2010 to 2016. Mr  Riggall was managing director of Queensland-based builder Seymour Whyte from 2003 to 2012. His past experience also includes time as NSW/ACT state director for Baulderstone.

HopgoodGanim Lawyers has appointed Kate Walawski special counsel. Ms  Walawski is an employment law and workplace relations specialist who was previously special counsel at Mills Oakley. Prior to joining Mills Oakley in 2016, she was principal at KRW Legal, following stints with IRDI Legal and Sparke Helmore.

The state government has made permanent Tony Hassall’s position as corrective services commissioner. He had been acting commissioner since James McMahon’s departure in March last year. Mr  Hassall was previously deputy commissioner, regulation and operational services. Before joining WA corrective services in 2015, he spent five years in senior roles with Serco including as chief operating officer, immigration. Mr  Hassall worked in the British prison system for 20 years, rising to the position of area manager, Yorkshire and Humberside.

Asterisk Information Security has appointed Mike van der Feltz an infrastructure security consultant.

Optometry Western Australia has appointed Evan MacRae executive officer. He replaces Tony Martella, who had served in the role since 2005. The Australian Medical Association WA has appointed Mr  Martella executive officer, operations. Mr  MacRae most recently served as resources manager at Minprovise. He is a past chief executive of the Small Business Centre Stirling.

WA Police and Community Youth Centres chief executive John ‘Jock’ Gillespie has resigned after five years in the role. Mr  Gillespie served in the Western Australian police force from 1976 to 2005. He then held a number of advisory roles, consulting on reforms to policing in Fiji, Samoa, and Jamaica, before taking up his PCYC role in 2013.

Sharon Warburton has resigned as chair of the Northern Australia Infrastructure Fund. Ms  Warburton was appointed the inaugural chair when the fund was established in 2016. She left the board of Western Power at the beginning of this year, but remains a non-executive director of Fortescue Metals Group, Gold Road Resources, and NextDC.

Gresham Partners Perth managing director Michael Lishman has left the firm and taken up a Melbourne-based role with law firm Jones Day. Mr  Lishman, a former managing partner of Clifford Chance’s Perth office, joins Jones Day in August as a partner in its M&A team. He was a founding partner of Cochrane Lishman Carson Luscombe in 2006, which was acquired by Clifford Chance in 2011.

Edith Cowan University has recruited Stefan Iglauer as a professorial research fellow, with the aim to establish a petroleum engineering discipline within the university’s school of engineering. Prof  Iglauer’s research interests focus on carbon dioxide sequestration and hydrocarbon recovery.

SPH Architecture + Interiors has promoted Nick Silich to associate director. Mr  Silich joins the management team two years after SPH recruited him as a senior architect. He is currently serving as project architect for the $100 million redevelopment of the Wearne aged care facility in Cottesloe, following the completion of the Corruption and Crime Commission’s new offices.
