Hume to lead Variety

Variety - the Children's Charity WA has appointed Tony Hume as its new chief executive, succeeding Michael Palithorpe, who was the organisation’s chief executive for 11 years. Mr  Hume is also currently the managing director of Medical Cannabis Research Australia, and was the chief executive of United Way Western Australia from 2015 to 2017.

 

Cirrus appoints Everingham

Cirrus Networks has appointed Paul Everingham as a non-executive director. Mr  Everingham is currently the chief executive of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA, a role he assumed in June. Prior to that role, Mr  Everingham was the chief executive of advertising agency Marketforce and was the Liberal Party’s state director from 2003 to 2005.

 

New GRDC Panel Chair

Bligh Lee Farms managing director Darren Lee has been appointed chair of the Grains Research and Development Corporation’s western region panel, effective September 1. Mr  Lee, who has been on the western region panel since 2014, will replace fellow grain grower Peter Roberts, who stepped down after serving as the panel’s chair since 2011.

 

Poseidon appoints CEO

Poseidon Nickel has appointed  Independence Group chief operating officer Robert Dennis as its new chief executive. Mr  Dennis has over 40 years mining experience and has served as a non-executive director at Poseidon since 2014. Mr  Dennis was also the company’s chief operating officer from 2007 to 2014, before j Independence Group in the same role.

 

More Ausdrill board moves

Ausdrill has continued its board renewal, with Alexandra Atkins and former Woodside director Robert Cole joining as non-executive directors. Donald Argent resigned as a non-executive director. Mr  Argent’s departure follows Mark Connelly’s resignation in June as a non-executive director and in the same month Mark Norwell was tapped to take over as chief executive.

 

Two new private school principals

Trinity College has appointed Darren O'Neill as its principal from 2019, succeeding Ivan Banks, who announced his resignation in April and will step down after 12 years at the helm. St Hilda's Anglican School For Girls has appointed the current head of the Australian International School in Singapore, Fiona Johnston, as its new principal for 2019.

 

Legal Appointments

Former governor and practising barrister Malcolm McCusker has been appointed chairman of pro-bono legal service Law Access. Mr  McCusker has previously served as the chairman of the Legal Aid Commission of WA and his appointment follows the retirement of founding director Adam Ebell.

Ashurst's Perth office has appointed Jason Salman as a partner of its restructuring, insolvency & special situations division. Mr  Salman joins from Corrs Chambers Westgarth after six years at the firm.

HHG Legal has promoted Ben Majoe to special counsel (family law) and Tim Colcutt has been promoted to senior associate (commercial litigation).
