Hawaiian adds two execs to team

Western Australian property group Hawaiian has appointed Kate O’Hara and Michael Heath to two newly created positions.  Mr  Heath joins Hawaiian as chief operating officer after four and a half years as chief executive of real estate and aged care provider St Ives Group. He is also a former chief executive of Perth Racing, and had a long career with the Royal Automobile Club of WA. Ms O’Hara, who has served as a director of Hawaiian since 2008, has been appointed chief brand officer. She joined the company in 2001 after senior roles with The Shorter Group, The Capital Group and Intersect Communications. Other positions Ms O’Hara currently holds include roles as chair of The 500 Club, acting chair of the Fashion Council of WA, and deputy chair of the Black Swan State Theatre Company. Mr  Heath is a director of Racing & Wagering WA and sits on the Curtin University marketing advisory board.

Kailis moves to Lavan

Lavan has appointed Amanda Kailis as special counsel, litigation and dispute resolution. Ms Kailis has previously served as special counsel with firms Gilchrist Connell, Jarman McKenna, and Rockwell Olivier. She is a director of MG Kailis Holdings, and Sculpture by the Sea. Ms Kailis also sits on the board of St Andrew’s Grammar School.

Shephard UDIA life member

Amex Corporation executive director Cameron Shephard has been awarded life membership of the Urban Development Institute of Australia WA. Mr  Shephard was national president of UDIA from 2014 until earlier this year, following three years as WA president. He joined Amex in 1995, where he is responsible for business development and acquisitions.

Accenture adds to Perth team

Accenture has appointed Gaston Carrion to a Perth-based role as managing director, resources, talent and organisation, Australia. Mr  Carrion joined Accenture in 2001 as manager, management consulting. He was promoted to managing director, management consulting, resources, in 2015, following previous roles as senior manager in HR, talent and strategy.

Changes to MRA board

Paul Lakey and Jo Dawkins have been appointed to the board of the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority for two-year terms. Mr  Lakey is regional general manager, development, for Peet. Ms  Dawkins has served as mayor of the Town of Cottesloe since 2013. They replace outgoing board members Carol Adams and Fiona Kalaf.

Page Perth Stadium recruitment partners

Perth Stadium operator VenuesLive has appointed firms Michael Page and Page Personnel as recruitment partners to source a number of senior roles at the stadium. This follows recent appointments of Mike McKenna as the stadium’s chief executive, Brad Paatsch as chief operating officer, and Chris Loftus-Hills as general manager, events and operations. 

A number of other key senior appointments have also been made at Perth Stadium by VenuesLive.Robert Affleck, formerly Assistant Project Director for Perth Stadium with WA Government agency VenuesWest, has taken up the role of General Manager Corporate Services.Rebecca Barry has been appointed Head of Human Resources. Rebecca joins VenuesLive from the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW where she held the position of General Manager, Human Resources for more than 10 years.Dorian Hughes has joined VenuesLive as Operations Manager. His most recent role was Transition Manager for VenuesWest, responsible for managing the transition of Perth Stadium from construction to operation.Rebecca Purcell has taken up the role of Events Manager after a 10-year career in event operations at Sydney’s Olympic stadium, ANZ StadiumKim Wisniewski has been appointed Information Communications Technology Manager. Kim joins the company from PricewaterhouseCoopers where he held the position of ICT Consultant for the Perth Stadium project.

Board changes at Telethon Kids Institute

Perth's Telethon Kids Institute has announced the appointment of three members to its board : Aboriginal medical doctor and researcher Professor Alex Brown, general manager of SAP Western Australia Nicole O'Connor, and senior principal researcher Professor Jozef Gecz.  They will replace current board members Professor Robyn Owens, Professor Michael Good AO and Kate George.
